The Anchorage Alumni

Chapter

As a chapter, we are collectively focused on making a difference by being an integral part of the community.

We are comprised of a professional group of African-American men who are dedicated to upholding the ideals and principles of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. It is our sincere desire to continue representing the fraternity in a way that reflects distinction and brilliance. We will continue our efforts to serve mankind in a way that propels excellence and fosters growth.

The history

The Anchorage Alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi evolved from humble beginnings in 1981 a group of Brothers, living in the city of Anchorage, petitioned the Grand Board of Directors for approval to form an Association, and on June 13, 1981, that petition was granted. The Charter members of the Anchorage Alumni Association were Beenie Brent, Charles Davis, William Elmore, Michael Freeman, Jesse Hicks, Louis Jackson, Robert Kelly, and Lawrence Smith. The Chartering Ceremony was held on August 20, 1981. William Elmore served as the Association’s first Polemarch.

Shop with Kappa

We are pleased to announce our first annual “Shop with a KAPPA” community service event was a resounding success. Under the Guide Right program, Kappas throughout the Western Province (Anchorage, Seattle, Las Vegas, and Phoenix) held their “Shop with A KAPPA” events throughout the month of December with the youth from the communities in which they serve.
