Western Province "Shop with a KAPPA"
We are pleased to announce our first annual "Shop with a KAPPA" community service event was a resounding success. Under the Guide Right program, Kappas throughout the Western Province (Anchorage, Seattle, Las Vegas, and Phoenix) held their "Shop with A KAPPA" events throughout the month of December with the youth from the communities in which they serve.
The Anchorage and Seattle Alumni Chapters held their event simultaneously on December 7. The Las Vegas and Phoenix Alumni Chapters held their events on December 21 and 22, respectively. Brothers and patrons donated at least $100 each to sponsor a youth on his/her shopping trip.
This year, the Brothers exceeded the goal of donating $10,000 and aiding 100 youth, and donated $11,800 to make a difference for 118 youth across the West. The newly founded program has raised $15,500 since its inception. The Brothers also used the opportunity to spend quality time with the youth and to encourage them to do well in school. Brothers shared how appreciative the parents and youth were during and after the event with the numerous "thank you's". The smiles on the faces also told it all. We look forward to working with the current chapters and adding additional chapters to make the event an even bigger success next year.
